Jona Infrastructure Wins Silver at AI Hackathon with Innovative Road Safety Hub

We are really proud to announce that Jona Infrastructure has won the Silver Prize at the AI Hackathon in Transport, organised by the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom, held at the incredible Google office in King's Cross! Our innovative idea, the 'Intelligent Road Safety Hub,' was recognised for its potential to significantly impact and improve the management of road safety.

Our solution aims to enhance the STAT19 data with Google Maps satellite images of accident areas, creating a centralised hub that allows quick and easy access to critical information. This hub will support operators from DfT, Health and Safety Executives, and Local Councils in responding more efficiently to road accidents and incidents, especially when urgent repair work or maintenance is needed. Currently, accessing this processed information can be time-consuming, and our hub is designed to tackle this challenge effectively.

As part of our Proof of Concept (POC), we created a heatmap to navigate 'critical' areas in York, identifying where most accidents occur. By zooming in and selecting an area of interest, we can generate automatic reports to analyse these accident zones and propose ideas to improve road safety using Gemini 1.5. We also generated over 6,500 images of accident points, aiming to further develop the hub's capabilities by training a model to estimate the level of severity for any new intersection or road area based on historical data and satellite images with the accident points.

Does this look good to you? Let me know if you'd like any changes!
